Official forms
- Norwegian Tax Deduction Card — The withholding card almost everyone working in Norway must hold — and it requires a D number or national identity number first. Checked against the official page on 2026-09-23
How to file
- Get the identification number first — a tax deduction card requires a D number or a Norwegian national identity number
- Apply as a foreign employee through the Tax Administration
- Provide the required identification documents; an ID check is part of the process
- Check whether the PAYE scheme for foreign workers applies to you rather than the ordinary card
- After issue, you can see which employers have retrieved your card, and request an amendment if the card is wrong
- If your D number has gone inactive, follow the Tax Administration’s separate route for that case
