How to file
1. Identify which permit category matches your situation — work, study, family and the others each have their own page and conditions
2. Where an employer, school or organisation has an interest in your arrival, it applies as your sponsor and may first need recognition as a sponsor
3. Check whether you need an MVV, the provisional entry permit, alongside the residence permit
4. Submit the application under that category
5. Attend the appointment to give your passport photo, signature and fingerprints
6. Wait out the decision period set for your category, then collect the residence card or identity document
