How to file
- You apply, not your employer — the employer plans the hire but the permit application is yours
- Check which of the four routes fits: employee or self-employed, temporary employment, a residence permit to look for work, or an exemption for certain nationalities
- Meet the salary floor: the median salary is SEK 38,300, so the offer must pay at least SEK 34,470 a month — 90 per cent of it
- Arrange comprehensive health insurance; it became a requirement on 1 June 2026
