How to file
1. Register and sign in — the personalised services are all behind authentication
2. Issue the documents you need free of charge: proof of your fiscal address (morada fiscal) and the IRS assessment statement (nota de liquidação) are both available directly
3. Confirm your contact email and phone in the portal; several notifications depend on them
4. Use the e-balcão e-counter to put a question to the tax or customs service rather than queueing at a Finanças office
5. Note the separate portals: citizens, businesses, public entities and certified accountants each have their own entry point
