City Overview
Saitama City, the capital of Saitama Prefecture, was formed by merging Omiya, Urawa and others — a transport hub and commuter city north of Tokyo. Omiya Station is where the Shinkansen meets many JR lines, connecting eastern Japan. Known for a stable living environment, spacious affordable housing and a family-friendly feel, with a strong football culture (Urawa Reds). Costs are lower than Tokyo and it is ~25 minutes from the capital — a great-value, livable commuter city of the Greater Tokyo area.
