Daqing
City Overview
Daqing, on the Songnen Plain of western Heilongjiang, is China’s largest oil-production base and birthplace of the "learn from Daqing" industrial spirit; the Daqing Oilfield is nationally famous. Petroleum and petrochemicals are pillars, with a recent shift toward new materials and high-end manufacturing. Rich in green space and lakes (the "city of a hundred lakes"), it has low cost of living and housing and relatively high incomes. Winters are long and severe — a key Heilongjiang industrial city.
