Getting Around Cape Town
MyCiTi BRT covers key city routes; suburbs rely on Uber/Bolt or private car. The Metrorail commuter rail is not recommended for safety reasons. Airport shuttle to Cape Town International is approx. R280.

- Public transport coverage is uneven, so check what actually serves a suburb before assuming you can live without a car.
- Take normal urban safety precautions after dark and prefer scheduled services or ride-hailing to walking unfamiliar routes at night.
Commuting & where to live
- The City Bowl, Sea Point and Woodstock are the areas where living without a car is most realistic.
- The Southern Suburbs and northern areas are cheaper but usually assume driving, with congestion on the M3 and N1 at peak.
