City Overview
Nanyang, in southwestern Henan, is a historic city (home of the physician-sage Zhang Zhongjing and where Zhuge Liang farmed) and a populous one. As the source of the South-North Water Transfer central route (Danjiangkou), it is strong in agriculture and herbal medicine (Nanyang mugwort, roses), with growing optoelectronics and equipment manufacturing. Cost of living and housing are low; a mild-climate basin and the regional center of southwest Henan.
