Jining
City Overview
Jining, in southwestern Shandong, is the birthplace of Confucian culture and the "home of Confucius and Mencius"; Qufu (the Confucius Temple, Mansion and Cemetery — World Heritage) and Zoucheng (Mencius’s home) are world-renowned. The Grand Canal runs through it, with coal, equipment manufacturing and culture-tourism. Cost of living and housing are low; populous and deeply cultured, it is the regional center of southwest Shandong and a major pilgrimage site of Chinese culture.
