Yichang, in western Hubei on the upper-middle Yangtze, is home to the Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam — the "world capital of hydropower." A gateway to the Three Gorges, it is strong in hydropower and chemicals (phosphorus), with rich tourism (the Three Gorges, Qingjiang Gallery).
