City Overview
Shaoxing is a water-town old city and historic-cultural city in eastern Zhejiang — hometown of Lu Xun, the calligrapher Wang Xizhi (Orchid Pavilion) and Yu the Great, and a home of yellow rice wine. Its black-awning boats, water lanes and Jiangnan gardens are distinctive; textiles/printing-dyeing and integrated circuits are strong. Near Hangzhou and Ningbo on the Delta’s south wing — livable, deeply cultured, moderate housing, mild climate.
