Ganzhou
City Overview
Ganzhou, in southern Jiangxi, is the regional center of southern Gan and a stronghold of Hakka culture — the "world’s navel-orange home" (Gannan navel oranges) and rich in rare earths and tungsten (a "rare-earth kingdom"). Song-dynasty relics and Soviet-era revolutionary history run deep; the furniture industry (Nankang) is strong. Cost of living and housing are low; where the Zhang and Gong rivers form the Gan River, it is a gateway linking the Pearl River Delta and central China.
